Honeymoon in Morocco

We had a brilliant time in Morocco. This video was probably one of the best highlights of many, certainly for me. Idir was our guide and driver in the 4l diesel Landcruiser. The music featured is from a cd Idir gave me as a present at the end of our journey. He must have had 10 tapes of desert tribal music with him, of which he must have played only 4 over and over again, it kind of grew on me over the 3 days we were together. We got on well and he was in his element driving off road - took us a on a lot of back roads, well just tracks across the desert really. We felt like we were on a real adventure.

I haven't been to the Sahara before so didn't know what to expect. The day we drove to Merzouga (where these dunes are) we stopped by at Todra Gorge, however from then the weather deteriorated quite quickly, becoming overcast and windy. On approaching Mazouga we drove through an electrical storm, a sandstorm was in full force (which you see the beginnings of it at the start of the video) by the time we arrived at the Auberge du Sud (featured), and an hour after we arrived a rain storm set in. We were supposed to be staying in a Berber style tent not too far out in the Dunes that night, however we were offered a nice cosy room at the guest house, an offer we glady took. The weather the next day was postcard perfect.
